HECTOR VARGAS
PORTAFOLIO
During my career, I have worked mostly for private companies. Some of them had confidentiality clauses and some others no longer exist, so I do not have the possibility to show some important projects developed for them. Most of them were specifically developments using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, PHP, MySQL. At the moment, my interests are more focused on Front-End React JS development, Shopify and WP Plugins/Themes creation.
The following are some projects that I found interesting but more related to the visual field, including some important UX/UI projects and some other websites that I worked on in the last years.
Círculo del Miedo Magazine
(Founder and General director)
In 2013, I embarked on a project I have had in mind to create a pop culture web magazine to expose many of the talented people, beautiful places or stories around Costa Rica. With a talented team of people, this became a reality and more importantly, very well received by the public. The project was always envisioned to be limited to one season of twelve editions between 2013 and 2014.
Note: CírculoDelMiedo.com is no longer online, but the following links are active:
WEBSITES - SAAS - UX/UI
McCartney Interactive!
I'm starting my own small business project with some colleagues for the creation of web apps and websites, all customized to the client's needs. Also offering services such as business analysis, social media, among others.
Platform "El Observatorio Compras Publicas" (Ministry of Finance - Costa Rica Government)
I was subcontracted by Arkkosoft (IT company from San Jose) to create the logo and the whole Front-End of a platform for the Government of Costa Rica. The project included the user experience and user interface, built the main App page, the internal pages and the statistical graphics, among others. Finally, I developed an interactive WordPress theme using CSS, JS and PHP, that fits perfectly with the design and is ready for the back-end department. I also managed all the meetings with the client (up to 12 people). The project was successfully received and approved in the stipulated time.
Currently, they have changed the colors, but below is the main App page that I delivered and that was approved in 2021.
Presupuesto Abierto (Ministry of Finance - Costa Rica Government)
Months after I delivered the observatory (Above project), I was subcontracted again by the same company to create this new platform for the Ministry of Finance of Costa Rica. Like the previous one, I had to design the logo and the whole platform as well as the UX and UI. The project, after two months, was delivered and was equally well received and approved as the previous one. For some reason, this project is on pause, but below is the main Platform page delivered and approved.
Hunder Relief International Foundation (Analyst/Developer/QA)
I was subcontracted by Hunger Relief International Foundation (USA) to analyze all their web resources and optimize their web platform which was in bad conditions. I analyzed and debugged all the code used by the previous developer to find all the deficiencies and correct them. After my intervention, the site and other web resources were already working in an optimized way, without spending extra resources.
H. Luna (Artist / Designer)
This artistic & designer hired me to build his website using his design as a basis. In this project, I especially like the solution I found and assembled for the portfolio under the link “works” because his portafolio was huge. This solution allowed a correct structuring of its entire portfolio without losing the design concept to be followed, keeping it solid and clean. I achieved this latter using JS, CSS and some PHP.
Estabilizadora RE
Throughout my career I have built many websites for small businesses or any client in general. Many of them are no longer online, but the following are three examples, of which the first is still in operation. After designing them I built them at that time using HTML, Bootstrap, CSS and JavaScript.
La Calle Ancha (Restaurants Platform 2018)
